anyways... in the cause of motivation for getting back to racing, i'm considering a new bike! Because I need one.... (!). Only having three road bikes already....

You so do not need any more bikes! Did I tell you about the bike shop a couple of doors down from my work with bikes that cost more than a new car?
I do hope your op goes well though and you are fit to cycle again soon.
